How to Produce Healthy Seed of Sugarcane

SUGARCANE is the most important sugar as well as cash crop which fulfills about 60 per cent of the sugar requirement in the world. Sugarcane is grown in about 9 million acres of land. There are neary 400 sugar mills in the country. The area under thiscrop has been increasing gradually, which needs large scale movement of seed material from one location to another, bat alongwith the seed are also intsoduced certain viruleut pathogens and insectpests into new fields and areas, which are one of the major constraints in the profitable cultivation of sugarcane.
