Costs of hazelnut protection against pests and diseases.

The studies on pest and disease occurrence on cultivated hazelnut plantation were carried out in the Konskowola Experimental Centre, in 2006-2008. The costs of chemical control in respect year were analyzed. The obtained results showed, that only an intensive program of protection, including 8-10 diverse chemical treatments, allows to get high and good quality yield of nuts. The application of biologically active substance per 1 ha amounted up to 24.7 kg, while the private costs of the performed treatments amounted up to 1 566 PLN per 1 ha. High profitability of hazelnut chemical control resulted from high level of obtained yield in every year as well as high price of nuts shaped by unabated demand on domestic market.
