Chemical weed control and technological quality of winter wheat and rye grain.

Field studies were conducted in Poland, from 2004 to 2008, to determine the influence of the herbicides Glean 75 WG (chlorsulfuron 75%) and Gold 450 EC (fluroxypyr at 90 g/litre + 2,4-D at 360 g/litre) on grain quality of the rye cultivars Walet, Rostockie and Picasso and winter wheat cultivars Sukces, Kobiera and Trend. Chlorsulfuron was applied 2 times: in the autumn, when cereals developed 2-4 leaves, at 15 g/ha; and in the spring, in the stage of full tillering. The mixture fluroxypyr + 2,4-D was used in the spring at 112.5 g fluroxypyr + 450 g 2,4-D/ha. Grains of cereals was harvested from each plot to determine the yield, weight of 1000 grains, seed grading, hectolitre weight, protein content and falling number. The technological value of winter rye and winter wheat grains was not influenced by herbicides.
