Efficiency of insecticide protection of spring rape with Mospilan 20 SP

Strict field experiments on the efficiency of insecticides in protection of spring rape against pests were carried out in 2008-2010. It was found that the yield of rape seeds was significantly higher after using the insecticide Mospilan 20 SP as compared to the control -untreated plots. The increase in seed yielding ranged from 0.74 to 0.86 t/ha depending on the number of applied treatments. The yield value was related to a higher number of pods produced by the protected rape plants. Both, the numberof rape seeds in one pod and 1000 seed weight were not significantly influenced by the insecticide Mospilan 20 SP. One or two treatments using the tested insecticide were economically justified taking into consideration calculated profitability indexes(Ql, Q2), and coverage index of cost (E). Three spraying treatments showed to be unprofitable due to a high value of the profitability index Q2.
