Efficacy of hemp essential oil in the control of rosy apple aphid (Dysaphis plantaginea Pass.) occurring on apple tree.

The purpose of the study was to determine the efficacy of hemp essential oil in the control of rosy apple aphid (Dysaphis plantaginea Pass.) occurring on apple tree. Experiments were carried out in 2008 on the area of orchard in Bnin. Efficacy of natural essential oil was compared to chemical plant protection agent Mospilan 20 SP (acetamiprid). Hemp oil was used at a concentration of 0.02; 0.05 and 0.10% and Mospilan 20 SP at the dose of 0.125 kg/ha. Results indicate that hemp oil applied at a concentration of 0.05 and 0.10% was as effective in aphid control as Mospilan 20 SP. Efficacy of natural essential oil in the 5th day after treatment amounted to 94.87 and 95.52%, respectively.
