As a postscript to our story last issue on the 50th anniversary of the Ferguson TE20 tractor, we dig further into history to uncover some of the implements designed to suit the famous grey Fergie. For close to four decades, the 'Ferguson system' was an evolving application of a linkage and weight transfer concept under the direction of Harry Ferguson. It was started on a modified Ford car, then on Fordson tractors, then applied to an evolving range of tractors -- the Ferguson Black, Ferguson Brown, Ford-Fergusons, the classic grey Fergusons, culminating in the FE/MF 35 era.
