摘要

The Extended Focus technique was developed to extend the possible uses of light microscopy. Apart from enabling detailed examinations of single surface structure elements at a large magnification, the result is that surface coverage has become possible by color detection in corrosion research. The Extended Focus technique combines the newly developed methods for image acquisition and processing, thus forming a basis for a non-contact measurement of surfaces in all of the three spatial directions. This could lead to fields of application in quality control and in preparing scanning electron microscopic examinations.
