PARKINFO: A GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMFOR LAND MANAGERS

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) an entity of the Environment Protection Agency, administers a large reserve system for which fire management is crucial. A customised agency geographic information system (GIS) known as Parklnfo, has become increasingly important to support innovations in fire policy and practice. Integrating fire zoning, fire history, vegetation and other data, Parklnfo provides a simple but powerful tool supporting fire planning, implementation and reporting.
