摘要

Polyaminopolyamide-epichlorohydrin (PAE) resins are the predominant commercial products used to manufacture wet-strength paper. PAE resins are typified by Kymene 557H wet-strength resin, Kymene 557LX wet-strength resin, and Kymene SLX2 wet-strength resin, which are manufactured worldwide by Hercules Incorporated. These resins contain by-products from the reaction of epichlorohydrin with the aqueous polyaminopolyamide. It is desirable to decrease the levels of these by-products. Changes in manufacturing, based on a kinetic understanding of the process, markedly reduced the level of these by-products and yielded a second generation of products, typified by Kymene 557LX and Kymene SLX2.
