摘要

Heteroatomic species in jet fuel have long been implicated in the formation of undesirable surface deposits in aircraft fuel systems (1-3).These trace heteroatomic species, though generally polar, vary in their polarity and are of different molecular types, and it is likely that they do not contribute equally to surface deposition processes. In this work,we separate the polar species in several jet fuels by relative polarity and molecule type, and compare them to actual surface deposition results for fuels that have been thermally stressed. In this way,we hope to determine which polar species subclasses might be most responsible for subsequent jet fuel deposit formation.
