WEATHER is to blame more than 90% of the time when a crop is lost, according to USDA estimates. That's what led the founders of Weather-Bill to create Total Weather Insurance, a full-season weather insurance program designed to protect farmers from losses when it rains too much or too little, when it's too hot, or when a killing freeze hits their fields. Total Weather Insurance is now available for the 2012 hard red winter wheat crop. TWI was first made available for corn and soybean crops across the country for the 2011 growing season. TWI is a new type of insurance product and is sold by qualified crop insurance agents.
