In today's portable applications two features have become increasingly important: system run-time and standby time. Therefore, batten life and best usage of given and limited battery capacity are critical, independent of which application you consider. These can be consumer-focused (i.e., media players or handheld computing), industrial (i.e., multi-meter or control systems) or medical (i.e., ultrasound systems) applications.
