Sir-We would like to thank the readers for noticing and correcting our error with respect to the drug cost for dexmedetomidine. In our institution the cost for Diprivan (propofol) has also fallen significantly, to dollar1.74/ampule, this reduces the drug cost to dollar2.60 and the ampule cost to dollar3.60 per case.This reflects the competition from generic propofol which is even cheaper (dollarl,21/ampule). Changing drug costs must be considered when reviewing drug costs.
