Norfolk's best plucking bird

Mike Porker reports from Rookery Form, Thuxlon, where Frank Peele's grandson lames Graham is keeping alive a family tradition of safanic black turkeys that are heaven to pluck. TO CELEBRATE 150 years of the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association, lastweek's Royal Norfolk Show put on a display of livestock that have also survived that long in the county. Included in the parade were Southdown and Norfolk Horn sheep, Shorthorn cattle, a Large Black Pig, two shire horses and (no Royal Norfolk would becomplete without it) the Norfolk Black turkey, an integral part of the county scene many years before Bernard Matthews.
