An increasing numbe of petrochemical companies in Japan are restoring production levels, some back to full capacity. Companies reduced output between April and May due to price declines, but now that demand and prices are recovering, they are restroring production levels. Mitsui Chemicals Inc, Nippon Steel Chemical Co and Idemitsu Petrochemical Co are resuming full production of styrene monomer-a basic material used to make resins like polystyrene - in the wake of 10-30% cuts in output.
