Europe's poultry imports to increase.

This paper assesses the production and trade of chicken meat and eggs in Europe. The production of chicken meat in Europe has expanded 15% since 2000, but the rate of growth has not matched that seen worldwide. The major growth area has been in Eastern Europe where output expanded 62% between 2000 and 2006. Further, egg production in Europe has grown only 6% between 2000 and 2006 compared to more than 18% worldwide. Finally, it is established that European chicken meat imports will exceed exports by almost 300 000 tonnes by 2016.
