The hydrotris(3, 5-dimethylpyrazolyl) borate complexes Tp*Mo(CO)(2)X (X = Cl, I) are rare examples of 16-electron carbonyl derivatives with a spin tripler ground state, which exhibit relatively sharp contact-shifted H-1 NMR spectra. Oxidation of Tp*MoI(CO)(2) led to the isolation and crystallographic characterization of Tp*MoOI2. Copyright 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd. [References: 34]
