Mexican recycler PetStar has doubled its capacity to about 65,000 t/y of PET bottles following a USD 100m investment by its owners, which include the Coca-Cola Company (Atlanta, Georgia / USA; www.thecoca-colacompany.com). During the inauguration ceremony for the added capacity, reportedly making PetStar the world's largest food grade PET bottle-to-bottle recycler, Coca-Cola announced plans to invest about USD 7 bn in the country in the lead-up to 2020.
