Plans to build new 500,000 t/y PP complex/ Lummus Technology to supply licence and engineering work

Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries (KPI) is progressing plans to build a propane dehydrogenation and PP facility in Atyrau, western Kazakhstan. The facility will have the capacity to produce 500,000 t/y of propylene and 500,000 t/y of PP, according to engineering company Lummus Technology. Lummus Technology will supply the licence and basic engineering work for the propane dehydrogenation unit and PP plant. The project will be part of KPFs gas processing complex, which is also expected to include PE production. Lyon-dellBasell (Rotterdam / The Netherlands; www.lyondellba-sell.com) had originally committed to being a partner in the project, but later withdrew.
