France's Technip has been awarded a services contract for the development of a new 900,000 mt/year purified terephthalic acid plant at Guangdong Province, China, for BP Zhuhai Chemical Company Limited, a joint venture between BP and the Fu Hua Group, Technip said May 24. The new plant is expected to come onstream at the end of 2007 to meet China's growing demand for PTA. Technip completed the front end engineering design contract for the same plant in 2005.
