Japan's ethylene producers post lower profit amid weak margins

Tokyo-The combined operating profit of Japan's ethylene producers dropped 33.3% for the 2007 fiscal year(April 2007-March 2008)to Yen 229.8 billion(2.2 billion)amid high naphtha feedstock prices,the country's Ministry of Economy,Trade and Industry said June 10."The margins have been squeezed as the producers were unable to pass high naphtha feedstock costs[through to the price of]products,"the METI said.
