Japan April ethylene output falls 2.8% on month amid turnarounds

Tokyo - Japan's ethylene production dropped 2.8% from a month earlier to 569,200 mt in April amid a steam cracker turnaround season,the latest data by the Ministry of Economy,Trade and Industry showed May 13.On a year-on-year basis,production dropped 8.8%.Two naphtha-fed steam crackers were shut in April.Tosoh Corp.shut its naphtha-fed steam cracker from March 16-April 18.Its cracker is able to produce 527,000 mt/year of ethylene.
