Tokyo-A group of Japanese refiners and petrochemical producers plan to install new processing units to improve margins in olefins production by using alternate feedstocks to naphtha,officials told Platts in late January.The initiative by the Research Association of Refinery Integration for Group-Operation,or RING,which comprises 28 refiners and petrochemical producers across Japan,involves setting up a hydrodesulfurizer of around a 30,000 b/d capacity at Japan Energy's 210,000 b/d Kashima refinery in eastern Japan by 2008.
