China's Sinopec Baling caprolactam unit offline after explosion

China's Sinopec Baling took one of its two caprolactam units at Yueyang,Hunan,offline after an explosion and subsequent fire January 9,a company source said,though the explosion did not cause "serious damage" to the affected unit and production was expected to resume in the second half of January.Other sources close to the company said the affected unit was the company's new 70,000 mt/year line due to a malfunction at one of the reactors.Baling's older 70,000 mt/year unit at the same site was unaffected,sources said.
