India's producers to share profits with displaced groups under new bill

A ten-member ministerial panel has decided that all Indian coal mining companies will have to share 26% of their profits with local population under the newly finalised Mines and Minerals Development & Regulation (MMDR) Bill 2010, while non-coal mineral producing companies will need to share an amount equivalent to 100% of royalties.
