Polypropylene prices in the US will rise at least 2.5 cents/lb and likely more following a settlement of the US September propylene contract this week. September propylene contracts in the US were settled up 2.5 cents/lb Wednesday, in line with participant expectations. Following the increase, September PGP contracts were at 60 cents/lb while September CGP was at 58.50 cents/lb. Monomer supply was not expected to improve this month as Petrologistics was forced to shut down its new 500,000 mt/year propane dehydrogenation plant at Houston, Texas Wednesday due to system overpressure, according to a filing to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
