April ethylene contract prices in Brazil had a slight increase of 1% related to March and were heard at $1,321/mt FOB. Usually, ethylene contract prices in Brazil follow the European contract with a month lag. Last month in Europe, contract prices were stable and the Brazilian increment was due to the exchange rate of the dollar against Euro. On the production side, a source at Braskem said this week that a maintenance shutdown for its largest steam cracker and two polyethylene plants in Camacari, Bahia which originally was programmed for July and has been pushed back to November.
