US polypropylene prices were set to rise as participants in the US monomer market anticipated a 2-3 cents/lb in September contracts. One buyer confirmed settling September CGP at plus 2.5 cents/lb however no other settlements were heard at time of publication. Some anticipated that producers would be successful in implementing a 3 cents/lb hike. With monomer headed higher, some in the US polypropylene market saw September contracts climbing as much as 5 cents/lb. August CPs settled in the upper 60s cents/lb range. Supply side conditions were little changed this week and the market remained snug. There was no word on the status of either ConocoPhillip’s force majeure or Flint Hill’s sales allocation.
