US PET suppliers Eastman and DAK Americas nominated a 2 cents/lb ($44/mt) price hike effective October 1 on PET for the NAFTA region, in addition to the industry-wide plus 3 cents/lb already on the table for September 1, according to letters sent to customers Wednesday. The increase was necessary “due to the uncertainty in raw material movement for the month of October,” the Eastman letter said. Rising feedstocks were putting upward pressure on the polymer.
