Mexican petrochemical producer PEMEX increased itsethylene June contract price by $62/mt to $1,345/mt FOBfrom May, following the price hikes in the USGC. “Fornext month, we believe the ethylene contract price inMexico should see some reduction because the USreference price is expected to go down,” a Pemex sourcesaid. On the production side, Pemex postponed theshutdown of its 150,000 mt/year cracker in Pajaritos,Veracruz, until mid-June due to inventory issues. Thecompany was expecting to stop the cracker during May,but the decision was delayed to build more ethyleneinventory.
