As the US polypropylene market awaited a contract settlement on the monomer side, some producers and distributors expected demand to remain weak in April as orders were slow to come in, sources said Wednesday. Expectations of a flat settlement for the April polymer-grade propylene contracts — and thus the April PP contracts — remained in place despite a recent uptick in spot PGP prices, sources said. "We're now [projecting] a flat to plus- or-minus 2-cent/lb settlement," a veteran olefins trader said. A source with a major distributor pegged the settlement at "flat to up 1 [cents/lb] for April."
