High cost monomer continued to plague North American polypropylene sellers this week, prompting one producer to voice concerns of the effect it was having on demand. Persistent high cost propylene in North America is destroying both domestic and export PP demand, Jerry Theys, CEO at Pinnacle Polymers, said in a letter Wednesday. Theys noted that North American PP producers have taken 14 price increases in the past 16 months and that as a result, were unable to remain competitive in export markets while customers were unable to compete with low-cost imported products.
