The US rig count was 1.040 the week ending May 16, up by 19 from the prior week, according to Baker Hughes. The latest count includes 915 land, 113 offshore and 12 inland water rigs, with 868 assigned to gas, 1687 to oil and 4 to miscellaneous drilling.
