Aperiodic solutions to the covariant and noncovariant dispersion relations of transverse oscillations in unmagnetized anisotropic bi-Maxwellian plasmas of arbitrary composition are investigated in the case of nonrelativistic plasma temperatures. With numerical solutions and analytical approximations it is demonstrated that the covariant and noncovariant aperiodic solutions are practically identical. (C) 2005 American Institute of Physics.
