The state is beset over its controversial nucle-ar programme, its anti-Israeii vitriol and the repression of opposition supporters we have witnessed on the streets of Tehran. It is an uncomfortable admission, but Iran's political stance would not be so hotly contested an issue were it not for the fact that the country is overabundant in mineral deposits, a fact that has allowed the Iranian government to continue flouting international condemnation.
