A Comparison between Personality Characteristic of the People Suffering from Migraine Headache and Personality Characteristic of Healthy People

The purpose of current study is to compare personality characteristic of the people suffering from migraine headache and personality characteristic of healthy people. The subjects were women suffering from migraine headache and healthy women; they were between 18 to 48 years old and they were all living in the zone 1 of Tehran. Our subjects were chosen homogenized regarding their level of education and financial status. This research investigated on two groups, 60 had migraine headache and 60 were healthy women. The subjects have been pooled by simple random sampling method. In order to investigate the type of women's personality characters Cattell personality factors test has been applied and for analyzing the data t-test was applied for two independent groups. Results suggests that there is a significant difference between personality characteristic of the people suffering from migraine headache and personality characteristic of healthy people consequently in other to subscale the data the following results have been categorized based on Cattell personality factors. 1. Impersonal, distant- Warm, outgoing 2. Reactive emotionally, changeable- Emotionally stable, adaptive 3. Deferential, cooperative- Dominant, forceful 4. Restrained, prudent- Lively, animated 5. Expedient, nonconforming- Rule-conscious, dutiful 6. Shy, threat-sensitive- Socially bold, venturesome 7. Utilitarian, objective- Sensitive, aesthetic 8. Grounded, practical- Abstract, imaginative 9. Forthright, genuine- Private, discreet 10. Self-Assured, unworried- Apprehensive, self doubting 11. Traditional, attached to familiar- Open to change, experimental 12. Group-oriented, affiliative- Self-reliant, solitary 13. Tolerates disorder, unexacting- Perfectionistic, organized There is not any significant difference between people suffering from migraine headache and healthy people in 14. the mentioned stated scales whereas in the scales: 15. Concrete thinking- Abstract-thinking 16. Trusting, unsuspecting- Vigilant, suspicious 17. Relaxed, placid- Tense, high energy There is significant difference between people suffering from migraine headache and healthy people.
