Chinese College Students’ Internal Structure of Autonomy in English Learning

Based on the studies of learner autonomy both at home and abroad, the researchers constructed the theory around the internal structure of learner autonomy of Chinese college students, and compiled a questionnaire according to the theory. Thereafter, a piloting test and a formal test were carried out among 739 students. Methods of Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis were used to analyze the data gathered. The main finding is that there are 3 internal structural elements in college students’ English autonomy including the will of autonomy, the strategies of autonomy and the frequency of autonomy.
