A robbins tbmrecently made its final breakthrough on the Milchbuck Safety Tunnel in Zurich, Switzerland. The tunnel will form a safety gallery running parallel to Zurich's Milchbuck road tunnel, which has required updating to current safety standards. Due to the split in geology, construction required two methods of excavation: 1,000m was bored by TBM through molasse rock of around 80MRa UCS, while 400m was excavated conventionally in unconsolidated rock, mainly moraine.
