At a time when everyone is talking about a lack of skilled labour in the construction industry, more and more engineering companies are visiting schools and colleges to convince the young that the sector is not just about adults wearing overalls playing with life-size Lego. One of a teenager's greatest skills is the ability to not know what he or she wants to do with their life. Could they be enticed to work in the trenchless industry or apply those abilities to other sectors? Teenagers have now revealed what they really think of engineers and their work. During January, ASQ, a knowledge-based global community of quality profession als, and consultancy Kelton surveyed people between the ages of 13 and 17, and people aged 18+ to discover their perceptions about engineers and the profession in the run-up to National Engineers Week in the US from February 22 to 28.
