Successful show to be repeated

Set aside the warm waters of the Persian Gulf, Dubai has wel-corned traders and travellers for centuries. Today the famed "city of merchants" is a sprawling trading centre that stands proud out of the desert. Dubai, then, was the perfect location for the World Tobacco Middle East 2005 event held at the Dubai World Trade Center in September. The event was launched to bring together the whole spectrum of the tobacco industry, a place where exhibitors and visitors could meet, exchange ideas, cement alliances and make new partnerships. Held over two days (September 6-7), the show broke new ground as the first event of its kind in the region. The exhibition swelled with almost 2,000 visitors walking the exhibition halls over the two days.
