According to the Washington Post, Hurricane Harvey unloaded 33 trillion gallons of water. The amount of rain that fell in Texas and Louisiana would have ended the historic California drought twice over. Hurricane Irma dumped around 10 trillion gallons of water on the whole state of Florida; that's the equivalent of 500,000 gallons for each resident. Now we have had Hurricane Maria causing additional havoc and destruction on Puerto Rico and several other Caribbean Islands. While the hurricanes made land and pounded coastal cities in both Texas and Florida, a similar effect was taking place in Asia as high-priced contracts washed ashore in South Korea, China and Thailand. Anticipating the damage these deliveries could do to their operating results, certain companies chose evacuation and simply fled the scene.
