Intellectual property rights obtained in the former State Union of Serbia and Montenegro are recognized in Serbia without any formalities.rnIn the first quarter of 2008, filing of patent applications has remained at the 2007 level, while the number of trademark applications has increased by 15 percent. The likely reasons for this increase may be that the Serbian customs has been very active in fighting counterfeiting and piracy during the past year, and that only holders of registered trademarks could benefit from that.
