Report Invites Action Plans; Canada, China Remain on Priority Watch List

The Office of the US Trade Representative on May 2 released its annual Special 301 report on countries that fail to protect intellectual property rights, with Canada and China remaining on the "priority watch list" in 2011, as the USTR invited countries listed in the report to negotiate action plans to address their IPR deficiencies. Twenty-nine countries were on the less egregious "watch list", and 12 were on the priority watch list, according to a USTR news release. Aside from Canada and China, the other 10 countries on the priority watch list were Russia, Algeria, Argentina, Chile, India, Indonesia, Israel, Pakistan, Thailand, and Venezuela.
