Canada Ratifies WIPO Copyright,Performances Treaties

Canada has ratified the World Intellectual Property Organization's Copyright Treaty and the Performances and Phonograms Treaty, commonly known as the WIPO Internet treaties, Federal Industry Minister James Moore said on Aug. 13.Ratification will ensure that Canadian creators are paid when their copyrighted material is used in other countries that have ratified the treaties, including when their music played over the radio or on digital music services, Moore said in a statement.
