Australian Slams Delays in WTO Dispute Proceedings on Tobacco Plain Packaging

Australia has hit out at countries seeking to overturn its tough rules on plain packaging for tobacco products for continuing to delay World Trade Organization dispute proceedings on the measure. In a statement delivered to a meeting of the WTO's Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) March 26, Australia noted that more than two years have elapsed since the dispute proceedings were initiated on plain packaging but that panel proceedings have not commenced on any of the five complaints filed to date.
