摘要

A recently released global intellectual property report supports the view that there is a clear link between a country's rate of development of biopharmaceutical innovation and the strength of its IP laws, the Biotechnology Industry Organization ("BIO") said Feb. 6. "The good news is that some mature and emerging economies are making growing use of patent systems to facilitate biotechnology research and commercialization," BIO said. "The bad news is that a number of countries, including India, China, Brazil and Canada, have established bureaucratic and burdensome hurdles to patentability."
