Chinese, U.S. Telecom Firms Top WIPO Patent Filings in 2014

Telecommunications companies from China and the U.S. submitted the most patent filings in 2014, according to a World Intellectual Property Organization report released on March 18. Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd of China, was the most active filer under the Patent Cooperation Treaty with 3,442 published PCT applications, according to WIPO's 2014 annual review. Qualcomm Inc. of San Diego, U.S., was the second largest applicant in 2014, with 2,409 published applications. China's ZTE Corp. was third with 2,179 PCT applications in 2014.
