摘要

In August, the UK published technical notices explaining the implications of a "no-deal Brexit," for the UK's immediate departure from the EU on March 29, 2019. Food ingredient companies now seek to getto grips with the impact on their businesses. These include the more obvious "knowns" highlighted by the notices: customs declarations, tariffs and new business registration numbers. Also, there are the more perilous "unknowns" savored by the media: traffic jams from Dover to London, inadequate lorry supply and food rotting at customs bor- ders. As a result, one could be forgiven for not looking much beyond March 2019. Both the UK and EU have sketched their perspectives on the rules that will govern future cross-Channel food trade. So what lies in store for the food ingredients industry?
