Olympic Tug & Barge gets a new tug for Alaska

In December, Olympic Tug & Barge, a Seattle-based subsidiary of Harley Marine Services, sent its newest tug north to Ketchikan, Alaska, to work for Petro Marine Services. The Kestrel, the new 94'x32' model-bow tug, will tow a one million-gal, fuel barge to small communities in Southeast Alaska. Designed by Frank Basile at Entech & Associates, Houma, La., the new tug was started as a spec project at Halimar Shipyard in Morgan City, La. But Olympic's general manager, Sven Christensen, said, "We found out about it, and it was a good fit for what we're doing."
