The combined offering from the North and South Island has been modest at recent auctions, struggling to surpass 10,000 bales a week. Despite the relative strength of the local currency, domestic prices have continued to follow the rising trend witnessed in other wool producing centres. General Manager of New Zealand Wool Services International (NZWSI), John Dawson, has suggested that "consistent demand continues to override the potentially negative currency factor."
